ABSTRACT

Background: The prevalence of pain at age > 15 years in Indonesia is 7.3%, in Central Java is 6.78%, and in Magelang City is 5.05. Analgesics with various mechanisms of action and potencies are the main class of drugs used in medicinal treatment. Purpose: To determine the profile of analgesic use for inpatients and outpatients at the Prof.Dr.Soerojo Magelang Mental Hospital during 2021 based on the type and quantity of use in DDD units along with the DU90% profile.

 Method : This study is a descriptive study using retrospective data on analgesic use during 2021 which was taken from the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) at Prof. RSJ. Dr. Soerojo Magelang. Quantitative evaluation was carried out using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical/Defined Daily Dose (ATC/DDD) and Drug Utilization 90% (DU90%). 

Results: The study showed that the three highest analgesic drugs used for inpatients were metamizole with an average use of 0.85 DDD/100 HR, mefenamic acid 0.50 DDD/100 HR, and dexketoprofen 0.16 DDD. /100 HR. The three highest drugs for outpatients were mefenamic acid with an average use of 49.20 DDD/1000 KPRJ, metamizole 14.9 DDD/1000 KPRJ, and dexketoprofen 8.73 DDD/1000 KPRJ. 

Conclusion: The analgesics included in the 90% DU segment during 2021 are metamizole, mefenamic acid, and dexketoprofen.
